Annie Duncan was born and raised in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. After graduating from Oak Ridge High School, she attended the University of Tennessee at Knoxville where she majored in Advertising. Ms. Duncan received her Bachelor of Science in Communications in 1994. Shortly after college, Ms. Duncan attended the Nashville School of Law while working for one of Nashville’s most prominent insurance defense firms. In law school, Ms. Duncan was selected to receive the Faculty and Trustee Scholarship for the years 1998-1999 and 1999-2000. She was also selected to be the graduation speaker for the Class of 2000. Ms. Duncan moved back to the Knoxville area shortly after graduating law school and began practicing law in the fall of 2000.
Ms. Duncan has over 18 years of legal experience. She began her legal career at the law firm of Becker, Thomford, Brown & Knight, primarily focusing on domestic relations issues. Ms. Duncan later began working for the firm ultimately known as Pemberton & Scott, PLLP now Pemberton & Duncan, PLLP, where she became a partner.
Ms. Duncan possesses extensive legal knowledge in the areas of personal injury, medical malpractice, property disputes, domestic issues, food borne illnesses, and product liability law. Ms. Duncan also has experience with federal multi-district litigation cases concerning hip and mesh implant products and vaccine injury cases before the United States Court of Federal Claims.
Ms. Duncan’s primary specialization and concentration is legal research and writing. She is adept at crafting compelling arguments that have proven successful in the trial courts, the Tennessee Court of Appeals, and the Tennessee Supreme Court for both plaintiffs and defendants. Ms. Duncan has also had the pleasure to argue before the Tennessee Court of Appeals and the Tennessee Supreme Court on numerous occasions.
Ms. Duncan currently lives in Knoxville with her husband Jeremy, their daughter Drew, and their son John.
